Climate Futures - Blooming Ludus and Broadleaf Theatre Receive New Conversations Funding!

We are super excited to announce that Blooming Ludus in partnership with Broadleaf Theatre from Canada have been funded by the New Conversations program! This is a pilot scheme that brings together companies across Canada and the UK to explore new ideas and new collaborations. Our artistic director Francine Dulong (based in London) got in touch with Kevin Wong (based in Toronto), the artistic director of Broadleaf and after a few online conversations Climate Futures was born!

As two theatre companies tackling climate change, we plan to use the support for a practice exchange both in London and in Toronto, to dream and gather seeds for potential future projects, and to enrich and connect our respective eco-systems and networks. Stay tuned for more news as Kevin’s visit to London is this week! A big thank you to the High Commission of Canada, British Council and Farnham Maltings for their support!

Check out Broadleaf’s work here!

We also have some more big news from Haeweon in Korea coming soon…. we’re full of exclamation points right now ;)

Blooming Ludus at 12 years LAB in Liverpool

We are delighted to announce that Francine, our Co-Artistic Director would be participating at 12 years LAB - a call to action in response to climate change on behalf of Blooming Ludus in March. Hosted and facilitated by Metal in Liverpool, this four-day intensive LAB will provide a great opportunity to discuss artists’ reponsibilities and challenges in this time of global urgency, and develop a new work.

Fro the residency at Metal, Blooming Ludus brought these questions for ourselves: what is our responsibility as artists within the 12 year window to stabilize the climate crisis? What is the potential range of social change and what structures and locations can participatory theatre take advantage of or invent to initiate that change?
