Francine is a physical theatre performer, educator and Applied Theatre artist from the wilds of Canada – Nova Scotia to be exact! Her training has taken her from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (BA French and Theatre) to L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, Paris (2008-2009) and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MA Applied Theatre). Balanced between the worlds of explorative play and theatrical performance, she has worked as a facilitating artist for over seven years, applying drama to the teaching of language (French and English), social studies and eco-systems, and currently body image and computer coding. Some favourite places and spaces of collaboration include the Roundhouse and Coney in London and Artspace and the Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Canada. She also conducts research in peace studies and gun violence prevention in North America.
Sustainability and connection have always been a focus of her work. Blooming Ludus is the continuation of her MA research in game design and applied theatre fusions – exploring the relationship between live performance and technology to discover new possibilities through play!
